Life With Marlene
It's been a complete travesty that I haven't updated Life With Marlene in two months, especially after I've received a lot of positive comments regarding this weblog. I apologize; I went back to work a month early and then started back on my grad degree at the end of August, so I haven't time to write.
So, what's Marlene been up to, you ask? Well, I called her last night. She's upset because the ceiling in her front hallway fell. Some water was dripping behind the bathtub upstairs. The water ended up trapped between the second floor and ceiling of the first floor. When I went to visit on Sunday, there was a hole where the water was dripping, but the hole was only the size of my fist. There was a large Rubbermaid container on the floor under the hole to catch the drips.
I called my mother last night, as I had a weird premonition. She was unusually calm as I spoke to her. She told me that she had been awake since 3 a.m. the night before, as that is when the entire ceiling fell out.
"The amazing thing was that when the guy came to fix it," she said, "All he did was tighten a bolt. That's it! And it caused a mess."
I didn't really find out any other details. I really do wonder how much of the ceiling is gone, though.
